TRIAGE starts this week!
Thank you for attending the open house to kick off the fall program. It was good to see you again after the summer vacation.
Reminders
1. Start and End Times - The program will operate each day M-TH, three weeks a month, from 3:45-6:00 at the Science Building at Calvin College. The fourth week of the month will be reserved for special events. Early drop off and late pick up times are only available when absolutely necessary. Our student coaches are not available on a regular basis.
2. Student drop-off and pick-up procedure – The first week students may be dropped off and picked up at the curb by the fish statue located next to the science building. Students must be greeted by a coach and sign in for the day. Students and individuals picking up students must also sign out with a coach. After the first week I will ask you to park and walk your student into the science building atrium and return there to pick them up so you can sign them out.
3. Snacks - We are encouraging students to bring a healthy snack with them each day. We will provide snacks occasionally throughout the program, but we would also ask that students bring something with them. They may bring fruit drinks, water, or milk but no pop please.
4. Appropriate dress - We are asking students to dress appropriately for the weather. We hope to be outside for a portion of each session. Rain or shine.
5. Research Teams of 5 or 6 – The focus of the fall program is to conduct team research. We will be working with students to create questions relating to environmental sustainability. We hope to create groups by the end of September and we will work with students and staff in the process.
6. Parent Volunteers – We welcome parent involvement throughout the fall both at OST time and at special events. Please let me know if you plan to attend on a regular basis or whenever your schedule allows.
I can’t wait to see you and get into science!
